Plenty of residents are happy about the idea. A Macca’s means easy access to a favourite takeaway. No more driving to Halls Head or Mandurah for a quick feed. It also gives teens a reliable spot for late-night chips after footy training.

It also means jobs for youth. Teens in the district often struggle to find their first gig. A big franchise can offer training, stability and a solid step into the workforce. Families see that as a win.

Some locals feel it shows Dawesville is finally being recognised as a growing community worth investing in. They say it’s about time. They say we deserve the same conveniences as everyone else.

My Thoughts on the Matter

A McDonald’s is not a blessing or a curse by default. It’s a catalyst. It will amplify whatever Dawesville already is.

If we stay engaged, keep the area clean, support youth employment and hold businesses accountable for their footprint, we can absorb a Macca’s without losing our soul.

If we ignore it, let rubbish pile up and shrug off antisocial behaviour, then yes. It becomes the beginning of the end.
