The Australian Government operates on three levels - federal, state, and territory. Each level has its distinct responsibilities, although some may overlap. The federal government holds certain powers as dictated by the constitution. It is responsible for national and international affairs, such as defense, trade, foreign affairs, immigration, taxation, and broadcasting. State governments, on the other hand, have their own set of responsibilities, including health, education, public transport, and law enforcement.
The state government is responsible for numerous sectors that directly impact the citizens, such as education, healthcare, employment, Aboriginal affairs, environment, building, utilities, essential services, agriculture, fishing, industrial relations, community services, sport, and recreation, among others. Additionally, it bears the responsibility of ensuring that law and order are maintained through policing, prisons, and emergency services. VIEW GOVT INFORMATION & SERVICE

The Federal Government of Australia, is also known as the Commonwealth Government. Australia's system of government is divided into 3 arms: the legislature, the executive branch, and the judiciary. The legislature, or Parliament, plays an essential role in making laws, scrutinizing the government, and representing the interests of the citizens. The executive implements and enforces the laws made by the parliament, while the judiciary interprets the laws.
