National Tree Day 2025 invites the community to celebrate the environment with a morning of tree planting and family-friendly activities.

National Tree Day is a nationwide initiative aimed at educating Australians about the environment and encouraging them to give back to the natural spaces they live in. This annual event is part of a season of winter activities designed to engage the whole family.

PLACE:  Melros Beach Reserve, Ayrton Street, Melros Beach


This year’s event will take place at Melros Reserve and the sand dunes near Melros Beach car park. The City of Mandurah is inviting the community to help plant over 2,500 native seedlings, supported by the WALGA Urban Greening Grant.

Participants can look forward to a range of activities, including:

  • Learning planting tips from the City of Mandurah and Bouvard Coastcare
  • Discovering the importance of native plants in combating erosion and protecting the coastal lifestyle
  • Contributing to urban greening and creating habitats for local wildlife
  • Connecting with environmental groups and initiatives
  • Understanding the link between mosquitos and a healthy environment from the mozzie team
  • Enjoying family-friendly activities and a free sausage sizzle
  • Taking home a native seedling from Men of the Trees

By participating, attendees will help shape Mandurah’s future as a vibrant and healthy city.

Important Information

To ensure a smooth experience, attendees should note the following:

  • Street parking is available around the reserve
  • Registration and a tree planting briefing will take place between 9am and 9:15am
  • Participants should bring a water bottle, weatherproof clothing (hat, raincoat, long sleeves, pants), and closed shoes
  • Gloves are recommended (attendees can bring their own or borrow some on the day)
  • Insect repellent and sunscreen are advised
  • The event will proceed unless extreme weather conditions occur

The event is designed to be inclusive and accessible for all attendees. Features include:

  • A Visual Story, event site map, and communication board available on the website
  • Accessible parking and footpaths connecting all areas and activities
  • An accessible planting area
  • On-site toilets and first aid
  • A Chill Out Zone with earmuffs, bean bags, and sensory activities

Attendees requiring alternative arrangements are encouraged to contact the organisers in advance.
