Addressing Dog Noise
Have you ever found your peaceful afternoon interrupted by the relentless barking of a neighbour's dog? Rest assured, there are ways to address this common neighbourhood issue!
If a neighbour's dog is causing a disruption with excessive barking, have a friendly conversation with the dog owner. This step often resolves the issue, as many dog owners may be unaware that their furry friend’s vocalisations are causing any disturbance.
For those who prefer a more discreet approach, try using the 'Bark Card'. This tool allows you to anonymously inform your neighbour about the impact of their dog's behaviour on your peace and quiet.
However, if the barking continues to disrupt your tranquillity, you can reach out to the City at:
9550 3777.
They'll provide you with:
- A guide on completing a Nuisance Dog Complaint
- A Nuisance Dog Diary to document instances of disruption
- A Form 7 Nuisance Barking Dog Complaint
If you find the situation unchanged, you'll be asked to maintain a Dog Nuisance Diary over a seven-day period, noting each instance when the dog's behaviour affects you.
To move forward with your complaint, please ensure you complete the following within 14-21 days of your initial complaint:
- The Form 7 complaint documenting the nuisance dog
- A seven-day nuisance diary
- Any additional evidence to support your complaint
Once your documentation is ready, you can return it to Ranger Services either via email at ranger.admin@mandurah.wa.gov.au or in person at one of the following locations:
- City of Mandurah - 3 Peel Street, Mandurah, 8.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday
- Falcon eLibrary - corner of Flavia Street and Cobblers Street, Falcon, 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday
Upon receiving your completed Dog Nuisance Pack, a ranger will review the information and evidence provided. They'll then get in touch with you to discuss the next steps.
Remember, we're all part of this wonderful community. Let's work together to ensure it remains a peaceful and enjoyable place for everyone!
